This past week, my wife and I closed on another investment property—a true “diamond in the rough.” In reality, it was a full-blown hoarder house, the kind where you open the door and immediately wonder, where do we even start? We spent 20 hours over the weekend cleaning, sorting, and prepping for an estate sale. And while the work was intense—heavy lifting, sorting through decades of stuff, and filling trash bags—something beautiful happened: we were in sync.

This week I’ve been thinking a lot about dragons. Not the fire-breathing kind (although those would be easier to spot)… I’m talking about the ones that live within us. They guard the gates to the life we say we want—the freedom, the wealth, the impact, the peace. Joseph Campbell said it best: “The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.” But first…there’s a dragon at the door.

I wrote this from a quiet café in Madrid while enjoying a short break with family and reflecting on what had really been moving the needle in our business. That morning, I sent the following message to my team—because sometimes, we all need to revisit the basics. “Do you have 500 bricks in your database?”

From there, I flew straight to New York City for a mastermind with Chris Suarez, Co-CEO of PLACE. Here’s what I learned—and how I’m taking action.

Today I want to talk to you about content creation as a lead generation strategy. You see, 2 years ago I attended the Traffic and Conversion conference and the message was clear. Do more. And yesterday, as I was consuming some Gary Vee content, in classic Gary Vee fashion he said "I can't understand why you aren't doing more...attention is a digital currency." It reminded me of the importance of 10x my content machine.

I just landed in New York and checked into The Dominick in Manhattan and so far "me likey." I have been working hard on a new project. I'm in NY to moderate a panel titled, "Strategies for Start-up Success: Attracting Investment Capital." This is a first for me because I will be moderating a panel of tech start-ups. Truthfully, I have a little seed in my heart that one day I will build a tech platform that connects our entire GRID Community (aka the GRIDiverse) in a more meaningful way. I've been a little quieter than I usually am but there has been a good reason. I have been working hard on a new project. You see, I'm leaving Keller Williams Realty after 17 years (sigh). It's been an amazing ride and I'm forever grateful to Gary, Jay, and the entire Keller Williams family for the knowledge, relationships, and opportunities they have given me. It was an incredibly hard decision to leave. If you know me, I have bled Keller Red for a long time. I have never been with another brokerage and saw myself with them forever. So why am I leaving?
